EXPLANATORY Notes on the Technical Data

 

Penetration
The value quoted gives an indication of the consistency of the lubricant only. 
It helps primarily in the choice of a lubricant for a particular job, in respect of 
the application process used.
Apparent Dynamic Viscosity
Even lubricants with same penetration values can have widely-different viscosities. 
For this reason, we quote for our lubricants the apparent dynamic viscosity 
at + 25° C and a shear rate of 300 s-1, in mPa.s (cP), using a rotation 
viscosimeter. The data of apparent dynamic viscosity take the place of our earlier 
ratings of retarding power.    
Ductility
The assessment of ductility is made in accordance with standards developed and 
owned by us. The more ductile a lubricant, the lower the risk of tearing 
the lubricant film.
Evaporation Loss
The test is made in accordance with DIN 58397, part 1. The lower the evaporation 
loss of a lubricant, the lower the danger that vapours will condense on optical 
surfaces inside a closed system. A low evaporation loss also implies good 
resistance to ageing, independent of the effects of any additives. 
Spreading
The test is made in accordance with DIN 58397, part 2. In our data, the spreading is 
tested at a temperature of 70° C. The lower the quoted value “Sp”, the lower the 
spreading trend to the lubricant. 
Operating Temperature Range
The temperature at which a lubricant has to perform satisfactorily is principally 
governed by the temperature of its operating environment. It should be noted that 
the temperature ranges quoted by us are based on laboratory conditions. 
The absolute limits of the temperature range can only be found by testing the 
lubricant on the particular components in a climatic chamber. 
Plastics
Because of the multiplicity of the offered types of plastic it is hardly possible 
to examine with each individual case whether the intended plastic is steady to 
the necessary lubricant or not. Due to the chemical structure of the 
LOSIMOL lubricants and the behavior of the used substances can be assumed 
however nor the plastics specified by us are chemically steady neither are 
angeloest against the LOSOID mentioned of lubricants and anquellen. The shatter 
crack stability depends also, apart from application temperature and internal 
voltage condition, on the mechanical load infrage of the coming plastic foreign 
body. Here following experience applies: the lower these factors, the better the 
stability. We recommend our customers in principle to accomplish appropriate 
attempts under conditions in line with standard usage in order to receive a final 
proof for the compatibility.
